Rifle Range
CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS
MSI has a 14 station rifle range consisting of three 50 yard and eleven 100 yard shooting lanes
The three shooting benches (A, B & C) of the 50 yard range are for rim fire rifles only (limited to .22 short, .22 long,
.22 long rifle, .22 magnum, .17 HMR and .17 mch2 rounds only)
The eleven shooting benches (1 - 11) of the 100 yard range are for rim fire an center fire rifles. No pistols or shotguns allowed
The pistol range is open to the public unless a special event is scheduled.
Cost: $20 single day use per person
B.Y.O.Target - No human faced targets allowed
All firearms must be transported in a secured bag/ case
Safety chamber flag required (available at MSI clubhouse for $2)

MSI
rifle
matches
are
designed
to
be
friendly
and
welcoming
to
new
participants.
We
offer
the
new
shooter
help
and
guidance
in
getting
started.
The
matches
are
open
to
service
rifles
(e.g.
M1,
M1A,
AR-15),
vintage
military
rifles
(e.g.
1903
and
1903A3
Springfield,
M1917
Enfield,
K98
and M96 Mauser) center fire match rifles, and sporting rifles
The
matches
are
held
the
first
Sunday
of
the
month
on
the
100
yard
range
(excepting
November,
when
the
Sunday
closest
to
November
11this
the
match
date).
The
range
is
open
for
setting
up
at
8:00
a.m.,
sign-ups
are
at
8:30,
and
the
first
stage
of
the
match
starts
at
9:00.
We are generally done by 11:00 a.m. Cost is $8.00 for club members, $10.00 for non-members
NRA National Match Course
The
NRA
National
Match
Course
is
open
to
service
rifles,
vintage
military
rifles,
and
match
rifles.
There
are
5
stages, comprising a minimum of 50 rounds, as described below, all shot at 100 yards on reduced targets:
Sighter stage: sighting rounds are optional and may be taken from any position, unlimited rounds in 5 minutes.
Slow fire standing: 10 rounds in 10 minutes, single loading only.
Rapid fire sitting: 10 rounds in 60 seconds, with a magazine change.
Rapid fire prone: 10 rounds in 70 seconds, with a magazine change.
Slow fire prone: 20 rounds in 20 minutes, single loading only.
Sights
must
be
metallic
(rear
sight
aperture
or
open),
with
a
post
or
aperture
front
sight,
or
scope
not
to
exceed
4.5 power magnification.
Optional Equipment
A sling may be used in all stages except standing.
A shooting mat is desirable for protection from moisture; mats may be borrowed from the clubhouse.
A spotting scope and stand will assist the shooter in observing the placement of shots on targets and making sight adjustments.
Shooting coats and gloves are permitted.
A sight blackener for post front sights may be used to enhance sight visibility.
Use of a score-book is encouraged to assist in improvement of marksmanship over time.
SHORTENED COURSE FOR OTHER RIFLES
Sporting
rifles,
or
other
rifles
not
meeting
the
descriptions
above
(e.g.,
with
red
dot
sights)
are
welcome.
At
the
shooter’s
option,
the
course
of
fire
can
be
shortened
to
25
rounds
(5
standing,
5
rapid
sitting,
5
rapid
prone,
10
slow
prone)
to
accommodate
rifles
not
capable
of
a
magazine
change
or which fire magnum cartridges.
